Pandas vs ninjas 2 game. As the investigation unwinds, family issues and long-held secrets are brought to the fore and David struggles to know whether his friend is innocent or just a very good liar.Although this is not the first novel featuring David Cavanaugh, it doesn’t really matter if you read them out of order. I thought that the scene was set well and there were enough twists and turns in the plot to keep things interesting. I really liked the character of David too, he is well drawn and you get a real sense of who he is and what he is about. The writing style of the author is good as well – she uses language well in a fairly concise fashion. The dialogue is fairly natural and seems appropriate for a legal setting (going on other legal works I have read).Although the level of suspense was good and there was enough going on to keep me intrigued as to what had happened and who did it, I didn’t find this book to be on the level of Michael Connelly or John Grisham (both of whom the author has been compared with). It wasn’t one of those crime novels that I just couldn’t put down and HAD to keep reading to find the outcome. It was, however, an enjoyable novel and I would be interested to read more of Sydney Bauer’s work.
